The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is a government agency responsible for regulating the food industry in India. All food businesses in India must obtain either an FSSAI registration or license from the FSSAI to operate legally.

FSSAI Registration and License Requirements
- FSSAI Basic Registration: This is required for food businesses with an annual turnover of less than Rs. 12 lakhs.
- FSSAI State License: This is required for food businesses with an annual turnover of more than Rs. 12 lakhs but less than Rs. 20 crore.
- FSSAI Central License: This is required for food businesses with an annual turnover of more than Rs. 20 crore.
Documents Required for FSSAI Registration and License
The following documents are required for all FSSAI registrations and licenses:
- Identity and address proof of the business operator
- Photo of the business operator
Business proof certificate - NOC from Municipal or Panchayat, Health NOC
- Proof of business premises
- Food Safety Management System Plan
- List of food products manufactured or processed
- Bank account information
- Plan of the processing unit
- Name and list of equipment and machinery
- Authority letter
Water testing report - Sources of raw material
- Supporting documents for proof of turnover and transportation
