The Employees’ State Insurance Scheme (ESI) provides health and insurance benefits to employees, and it is funded by both employees and employers. To participate in the ESI scheme, employers must register with the government, which is known as ESI registration.
The Employee Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) is responsible for regulating the Employee Provident Fund (EPF) in India. All firms or enterprises with more than 20 employees must register under EPFO. The EPF scheme provides financial assistance to employees after retirement.
Who is not eligible for ESIC?

The following workers or employees are not eligible for ESIC:

Employees earning more than ₹21,000 per month
Persons with a disability earning more than ₹25,000 per month
Casual workers -
Employees working in factories that employ less than 10 workers
Registration Procedure for Employers
- Business registration certificate: Proof of business registration with the relevant authorities
- Scope of business: A clear definition of the company’s business activities and industries served
Identification and address proof of - authorized person: Valid identification and address verification documents for the authorized representative
- Authorization letter: A formal letter authorizing the representative to act on behalf of the company
- Product and services details: A comprehensive list of products and services offered by the company
